rail-high-speed Travel News today about high-speed rail projects.President Obama  announced $8bn (£5bn) in grants for high-speed rail developments.The 13 high-speed rail projects nationwide has aimed at several key population centers  to become either moving the US into a new phase of transportation modernization – or just a dead end “drop in the bucket.Except for the line between Boston and Washington, there are no high-speed rail routes in the US.
Thirteen rail corridors in 31 states are to receive funds, but only California’s plans call for trains with maximum speeds exceeding 200mph (322km/h).From BBC news, Mr Obama said he wanted to get Americans working on the country’s infrastructure. The White House says that the high-speed rail projects will create or save thousands of jobs in engineering, manufacturing, planning and maintenance. “It creates jobs immediately and it lays the foundation for a vibrant economy in the future,” Mr Obama said at a town hall-style meeting in Tampa. Congress set aside funding for the rail projects, which Mr Obama said that change the way we travel in America with high-speed rail projects as part of the $787bn economic stimulus package approved in 2009.
